This morning my heart grieves at the senseless act of terrorism on innocent people. The tragedy in Nevada, hit me personally as I knew many people that were at that concert. One of my sons substitutes at his high school were listed among the deceased. All I could do was get on my face and cry out to God.
As I was crying out to Him, I said, “God, I know that you are good, but others won’t understand and will want to know where you were when this happened?” I was immediately taken into a vision where I was high above the city overlooking the venue as the shooting was taking place. The scene was taking place, as if it was day time, so I could see everything clearly. I could see Angels fighting darkness, they were fighting in the air just below me and down on the ground. They were protecting people. I then looked to my right and I saw the Hotel where the shooter was. The entire hotel was covered in darkness. I could see many angels battling these demons all over the front of the hotel. The darkness was so heavy and thick, but the angels were mighty. The shooter was surrounded by many demons protecting him as he carried out this act of violence. I then saw the angels break through the darkness and the enemy was defeated. As the vision ended, God reminded me of the war we are all in.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”- Ephesians 6:12
Friends, I don’t know why some people were saved and others were not. It doesn’t make sense, to our human minds. But I do know that God is with the families, who are grieving. Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
I do know that God was there at that concert. I know that His heart grieves more than ours do. I know He was there because there were 22 thousand people in attendance, the number injured and deceased is very small considering. I know He was there because I have heard countless testimonies from my friends who made it out safe. I know He was there because countless people risked their lives to help others. He was there because His goodness and love was being shown by the selfless people staying behind to save people, help people, donate blood, donate money and even giving their own lives.
Where there was devastation, I saw a God that showed up through His people. I saw a community become stronger through selfless giving. I saw the blood banks turning people away because they had enough. I saw people donating blankets, food, etc. and others being turned away because help centers didn’t have enough room for all the donations. I saw people praying for people. I saw local churches and strangers spring into action to help the hurting. I saw God through every single person who helped and gave their lives for another.
So, you ask?? Where was God? Oh, my friends, while the loss is great and the aching of our hearts is almost unbearable. Our God, is in the midst of this. He is with all of us. He is with the families and the city of Nevada. He is with your family and our Country. Perhaps what was once called “Sin City,” could very soon become “Son City,” As His light continues to shine through His people of Nevada.
