This is so very true. We have heard the sayings, “What you eat in private you wear in public.” All of us have junk, things we struggle with. Some people are addicted to alcohol or drugs sex or money. Most of which can be hidden from others. However, when you have a food addiction the world knows it. There is no hiding it, it shows up every where on your body.
Now I have struggled with my own demons of food for years. But as God has taken me on this fitness journey he is teaching me to trust in Him for all my emotional and physical needs. That I am to rely on Him and not food for comfort.
Do I still struggle? Of course. Am I still paying for things I did to my body? Yes. But I cannot undo what I did, I can only try to improve upon the person I am today.
I am learning that eating healthy is as much a spiritual discipline as it is a physical one. We have to learn self control in all things regarding the flesh.
But we know Gods Word tells us that we have all been given a spirit of self control 2Timothy 1:7 We all have a choice as to whether or not we exercise that gift.
Friends, God does not care how much you weigh, but He does care about your health. He cares about your emotions and your mental health. When we allow ourselves to abuse our bodies, to the point of causing physical harm and infirmities, Ie. High Blood pressure, diabetes, lack of mobility all directly related to our lifestyle. He is concerned. ( I am not speaking of people born with these ailments, but rather have inflicted them on themselves.) When we are overweight this affects everything in our lives.
Perhaps God is wanting to take you on a journey to wellness. Allow Him to speak into your life and show you the areas you need work on. If we truly want ALL that God is requiring of us, then we are required to do our part. The first step is to be obedient in the small things. Remember God loves you too much to let you stay where you are. Be blessed my friends.
